The LVMPD offers a College Internship Program for current college students. Interns are exposed to the many aspects of the Department and its operations. Interns may be assigned to Missing Persons, Criminalistics, Sexual Assault, Property Crimes, Gang Crimes, Patrol Area Commands, Abuse Neglect, and Domestic Violence, just to name a few.

Interested students must complete an application and participate in a background investigation process with the LVMPD, 90 days prior to the start of the internship semester. Applications may be requested from the Personnel Bureau via email at Intern_Program@lvmpd.com. In addition to a completed application, the intern applicant must produce, at the time of the background interview, the following original documents:

  1. Sealed High School Transcripts,
  2. Sealed College Transcripts,
  3. Valid Driver’s License,
  4. Birth Certificate – Original OR Certified Copy,
  5. Social Security Card,
  6. Proof of Enrollment [must receive credit(s) for course taken],
  7. Letter of Intent from the College,
  8. Minimum 2.5 cumulative Grade Point Average (G.P.A.),
  9. Proof of Enrollment in Intern Class,
  10. Proof of Current Medical Insurance,
  11. Proof of U. S. Citizenship (if born abroad),
  12. Proof of Name Change (if applicable),
  13. DD214 (if applicable), and
  14. Marriage License (if applicable).
