Bolden Area Command

Captain Larry Burns

The Bolden Area Command opened in October 2002, and is named after Retired Deputy Chief Larry C. Bolden.  Larry C. Bolden was born in Henderson, Nevada, on February 16, 1937.  He began his career with the former Las Vegas Police Department in 1959, promoting to Sergeant in 1965, Lieutenant, Commander, and Deputy Chief.  During his tenure, the Las Vegas Police Department and the Clark County Sheriff’s Department consolidated, and created the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in July of 1973.

Deputy Chief Larry C. Bolden was the first African American in Nevada to rise to that level, and is a founding member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE).  Deputy Chief Larry C.
