DETECTIVE PAT FEBBRARO L.V.M.P.D. Police Employees Assistance Program Peer Counselor / Coordinator
Biography
Pat has been employed as a police officer with LVMPD since 1989. He has held assignments in the Patrol Division, and worked as an officer in the Line Solution Policing Team at Northeast Area Command. Pat has also worked as an original member of the Downtown Area Command Bicycle Patrol team.
In 1998 Pat became a detective assigned to the Fraud Detail and later went on to the Domestic Violence Detail where he investigated domestic violence, stalking, and other family related crimes. He has attended numerous training seminars locally and around the country relating to domestic violence, stalking, threat assessment, and has developed expertise in these fields. Pat has conducted over 1000 domestic violence and stalking related investigations.
Pat has received training given by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation on critical incident stress management, suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention. Additionally, he is pursuing a “Certificate of Award” at the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, CO. where he studied topics such as death and grief issues, complicated mourning, counseling skills fundamentals.
As a result of Pat’s training, professional experiences, and his personal experiences he was drawn to the LVMPD Police Employees Assistance Program where he has served as a peer counselor since February of 2001.
Pat has facilitated critical incident stress debriefings for incidents such as police officer-involved shootings, suicides, fatal vehicle accidents, and other traumatic events.
Pat is a P.O.S.T. certified instructor and is currently teaching in the LVMPD Academy as well as the In-Service Training section. He has taught classes on domestic violence and stalking, death and grief issues, post-traumatic stress, family orientation to police life, post-shooting trauma, stress management, and emotional survival for law enforcement.
