Allow yourself one period of time each day (i.e. after work for 5-15 minutes) in which you do absolutely nothing. Take short breaks during the day to daydream or enjoy something entirely unconnected with work.
Where possible, plan more time for activities than they require in order to build in a transition period and avoid running behind schedule.
Prioritize your tasks at work and at home, and do the important ones first. This solves the problem of staying busy with minor tasks while continuing to worry about and avoid the major tasks.
Plan activities outside of work and write them down. If you don't write them down they probably won't happen.
Taste and enjoy the food you eat.
Don't interrupt people. Interrupting is a signal that you are impatient and want the world to "hurry up".
Stop spending time with people who you personally find annoying and overly-competitive.
Look for reading materials that will require your complete attention. As you read, utilize all your powers of concentration.
Develop hobbies that are not related to your work.
Plan to take relaxed, rather than structured vacations. Aim for frequent short trips, rather than lengthy journeys in which you try to see and do everything.
Stay physically fit. 15-20 minutes of aerobic exercise 3 times a week is an easy way to start.
Empower others, delegate.
Be positive and optimistic about yourself. Practice positive self talk.
