Detectives Seek the Public’s Assistance
Update – Investigators Exhaust Leads and Seek Further Assistance
Over the course of two weeks, investigators have exhausted all leads related to this case in the search of the individual(s) responsible for this crime. Detectives are still seeking surveillance footage or any information regarding the incident.
We ask that any businesses in the area who have not been contacted by law enforcement to please review their surveillance system. Detectives believe that the individual(s) involved abandoned a black tote to the rear of a grocery store near East Katie Avenue and South Maryland Parkway in the days leading to the incident.

On July 26, 2024, at approximately 12:50 a.m., LVMPD officers responded to the 1100 block of East Twain Avenue regarding an animal complaint. Responding officers contacted a citizen who found an abandoned dog inside of a plastic tote behind a business. The dog appeared to be in medical distress and was transported to a local animal hospital where it later died.
The investigation is led by the LVMPD Animal Cruelty Detail in conjunction with the Clark County Animal Protection Services and community partners. The LVMPD’s Animal Cruelty Detail conducts investigations into the abuse and mistreatment of animals. This dedicated section works tirelessly with community partners to ensure that animals around the valley are protected.
