FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On February 21, 2025, at approximately 3:10 p.m., a critical injury vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision occurred on West Hacienda Avenue west of South Decatur Boulevard. Evidence at the scene and video footage indicated a 2023 Tesla Model 3 was traveling westbound Hacienda west of Decatur in the left of two travel lanes. A pedestrian riding a mobility scooter was crossing Decatur outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. The pedestrian traveled northbound in front of the Tesla's travel path. A collision occurred when the front of the Tesla struck the pedestrian, causing the pedestrian to be ejected from the mobility scooter and onto the roadway.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to UMC-Trauma with injuries determined to be life-threatening by the hospital staff. The driver of the Tesla remained at the scene of the collision and showed no signs of impairment.
This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
