*** Pedestrian fails to obey traffic control device and is struck by vehicle***
On April 18, 2025, at approximately 6:41 p.m., a vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred on East Oakey Boulevard, east of South Las Vegas Boulevard. Evidence at the scene and surveillance video indicated a 2021 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on Oakey Boulevard while approaching Las Vegas Boulevard in the only westbound travel lane (T1) on a steady green traffic signal. A pedestrian entered a marked crosswalk on the east side of the intersection, walking from north to south against the pedestrian traffic control device. A collision occurred when the pedestrian crossed the Ford’s path of travel. The pedestrian glanced off the front right portion of the Ford and fell onto the roadway.
The pedestrian was transported to the UMC Trauma Center by medical personnel, where she was admitted for life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford remained at the collision scene, cooperated with the investigation, and did not show signs of impairment.
This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigative Section.
