*** Tesla Model Y involved in a fatal hit and run collision with a pedestrian on a skateboard. ***
On Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, at approximately 1:18 a.m., a fatal injury hit-and-run automobile versus pedestrian collision occurred on North Rainbow Boulevard at the intersection with Vegas Drive. Evidence at the scene, witness statements, and video evidence indicated that a Tesla Model Y was traveling southbound on Rainbow Boulevard approaching the intersection with Vegas Drive. A pedestrian was attempting to cross Rainbow Boulevard on the north side of the intersection when he was struck by the Tesla. The Tesla driver failed to stop at the collision scene or notify police. Emergency Medical Personnel responded to the collision scene, but despite life-saving efforts, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
This collision marks the 66th fatal traffic-related collision in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2025. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
