On May 29, 2025, at approximately 4:46 p.m., LVMPD Communications received a report of a male shot inside a house in the 3600 block of North Campbell Road. Patrol Officers responded to the house and started calling out residents from inside the house. One of the individuals who exited, later identified as 36-year-old Christopher Rainey, was armed with a firearm and taken into custody.

Officers entered the residence and located a male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medical personnel were requested and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The LVMPD homicide section was notified and responded. Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the victim had served Rainey with an eviction notice. This upset Rainey, and after a brief verbal exchange, he shot the victim several times.

Rainey was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon.

The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, can be obtained through the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
