***Vehicle versus Vehicle traffic collision that resulted the death of one of the drivers. The driver's death marks the 84th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for the year 2025. ***

On June 28, 2025, at approximately 9:57 p.m., a fatal vehicle versus vehicle traffic collision occurred at the intersection of E. Katie Avenue and S. Maryland Parkway. Evidence at the collision scene and a witness statement indicated a 2005 Mercedes Benz CLK320 was traveling eastbound on E. Katie Avenue at S. Maryland Parkway with a green traffic signal. A 2005 Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on E. Katie Avenue at S. Maryland Parkway making a left turn with a flashing yellow traffic arrow. The Nissan entered the path of the Mercedes Benz and a collision occurred when the left front of the Nissan struck the left front of the Mercedes Benz. The driver of the Nissan was unrestrained and sustained life-threatening injuries.

Arriving medical personnel transported the driver of the Nissan to Sunrise Trauma for advanced medical intervention. Despite all life-saving efforts, the driver of the Nissan succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at Sunrise Trauma.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz did not display any signs of impairment. This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
