On July 2, 2025, at approximately 3:17 p.m., a vehicle versus motorcycle collision occurred at the intersection of Southern Highlands Parkway and Shinnecock Avenue. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated that a 2019 Ram 2500 truck, towing a utility trailer, was traveling eastbound on Shinnecock Avenue, approaching Southern Highlands Parkway in the only left turn lane (L1) on a fresh green traffic signal. A 2016 Jiangsu Baodiao street bike was traveling southbound on Southern Highlands Parkway, approaching Shinnecock Avenue in the right travel lane of two (T2) on a steady red traffic signal. The rider of the Baodiao street bike failed to obey the red traffic signal and entered the intersection. A collision occurred when the Ram truck crossed the Baodiao street bike’s path of travel. The Baodiao street bike collided with the left side of the trailer, ejecting the rider to the ground, while pinning the Baodiao street bike under the trailer.

Arriving medical personnel transported the motorcycle rider to the UMC Trauma Center, where he was admitted for life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported in the collision.

The driver of the Ram truck remained at the scene of the collision, cooperated with the investigation, and did not show signs of impairment.
This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
