On June 28th, 2025, at approximately 2:18 p.m., a fatal vehicle vs vehicle collision occurred on Ernest May Lane west of the intersection with Rancho Drive. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated that a 2003 Nissan Altima was exiting a private drive on the south side of Ernest May Lane, completing a right turn eastbound. A 2012 Nissan Versa was traveling northbound through private property south of the Altima. For unknown reasons, the Versa accelerated through landscaping and across the sidewalk, entering the roadway and colliding with the right rear of the Altima. The Versa continued into the property on the north side of the road and collided with the building at 821 North Rancho.
Emergency Medical Services immediately responded to the collision scene and transported the Versa’s driver to the University Medical Center, where, despite all life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office determined that the cause of death was directly related to the injuries sustained in the collision. This incident marks the 86th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2025. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation section.
