The passenger's death marks the 93rd traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Jurisdiction for the year 2025.

On July 21, 2025, at approximately 7:05 p.m., a vehicle versus SUV collision occurred on North Buffalo Drive and West Elkhorn Road. Evidence at the scene and the driver's statements indicated that a 2018 Toyota Avalon was traveling eastbound on North Buffalo Drive, approaching West Elkhorn Road in the single left turn lane. A 2007 Nissan Xterra was traveling westbound on North Buffalo Drive, approaching West Elkhorn Road. A collision occurred when the Toyota attempted to make a left turn and entered the travel path of the Nissan at the intersection. The front of the Nissan collided with the passenger side of the Toyota.

Emergency Medical Personnel responded and rendered aid to the drivers of each vehicle. The drivers were then transported via ambulance to University Medical Center. The passenger of the Toyota needed to be mechanically extracted to render aid. Despite all life-saving measures, the Toyota passenger succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased via telemetry with a University Medical Center Trauma room physician.

Neither driver showed signs of impairment and cooperated with the investigation. This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
