***This was a Transit Bus versus bicyclist delayed fatal traffic collision that caused the death of the bicyclist. The bicyclist's death marks the 97th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for the year 2025. ***

On July 14, 2025, at approximately 3:12 p.m., a critical injury Transit Bus versus bicyclist traffic collision occurred on S. Maryland Parkway north of E. Katie Avenue. S. Maryland Parkway in the area of the collision was an inactive construction zone with large orange cones blocking the right northbound travel lane. Evidence at the collision scene, witness statements, and video surveillance indicated a bicyclist was traveling northbound on S. Maryland Parkway north of E. Katie Avenue inside the large orange construction cones in the closed area of the roadway. A Transit Bus was traveling northbound on S. Maryland Parkway north of E. Katie Avenue in the right-most northbound open travel lane. As the Transit Bus began to pass the bicyclist, the bicyclist entered the open travel lane, striking the Transit Bus on its right side. This caused the bicyclist to fall to the ground and sustain critical injury.

Arriving medical personnel transported the bicyclist to Sunrise Trauma for advanced medical care, and he was admitted for continuous care. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section (Fatal Detail) did not respond to this collision.

On July 29, 2025, a representative from the Clark County Coroner Medical Examiner's office notified the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section that, despite all life-saving measures, the bicyclist succumbed to the injuries he sustained from the collision and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at Sunrise Trauma on July 26, 2025.

This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
