On July 31, 2025, at approximately 2:24 p.m., a vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred on Vegas Drive, west of North Buffalo Drive. Evidence at the collision scene, witness statements, and surveillance video indicated that a Ram 1500 was involved in a hit-and-run collision near the intersection of Rampart Boulevard and Vegas Drive. The driver of the Ram fled eastbound on Vegas Drive at a high rate of speed.

As the Ram approached the intersection with Buffalo Drive, it overtook vehicles that had not yet begun forward movement for a fresh green traffic signal by entering the right-turn-only lane (EB R1). The Ram failed to maintain its travel lane and struck the south curb of Vegas Drive before continuing into the intersection. 

The Ram struck the southeast curb of the intersection, drove up onto the sidewalk, and continued eastbound through the landscaping. The Ram collided with a streetlamp support, a fire hydrant, an electrical relay box, a bus stop shelter, a pedestrian waiting at the shelter, and a water district box before overturning and sliding to a stop across the eastbound travel lanes of Vegas Drive.

Medical personnel transported the pedestrian to UMC Hospital via ambulance, where his injuries were determined to be potentially life-threatening. The driver of the Ram was also transported to UMC Hospital via ambulance and was treated for minor injuries. The driver exhibited several signs of impairment and was
subsequently booked for reckless driving and driving under the influence–related charges. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
