 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On July 31, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., a vehicle versus vehicle collision occurred on South Desert Foothills Drive and West Desert Sunrise Road. Evidence at the collision scene, witness statements, and dash camera video indicated that a 2019 Acura MDX was traveling north on Desert Foothills Drive, approaching Desert Sunrise Road in the only left turn lane on a flashing left turn arrow. A 2012 Chevrolet Cruz was traveling southbound on Desert
Foothills Road, approaching Desert Sunrise Road in the right travel lane of two (T2) on a steady green traffic signal. A collision occurred when the driver of the Acura failed to yield the right of way and made the left turn, crossing the Chevrolet’s path of travel. The front of the Chevrolet collided with the right front of the Acura. Both vehicles were redirected to the southwest corner of the intersection.

The driver of the Chevrolet was transported by ambulance to the UMC Trauma Center, where she was later admitted for life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Acura was transported by ambulance to Summerlin Hospital for claimed injuries.

The driver of the Acura cooperated with the investigation and showed no signs of impairment.

This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
