Foul Play Considered in Woman’s Disappearance - Update - Suspect Arrested and Extradited

Update - Suspect Arrested and Extradited

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have successfully extradited Erick Rangel-Ibarra back to Las Vegas with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service. On August 28, 2025, Rangel-Ibarra was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for Open Murder in connection with the 2020 murder of Lesly Palacio.

LVMPD would like to thank the U.S. Marshals, FBI, the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, and the Mexican Government for assisting in the investigation.

** Original Information ** 

In the past few days, LVMPD Missing Persons Detectives have been investigating the disappearance of 22-year-old Lesly Palacio, who was last seen on August 29, 2020.  Through the course of the investigation, detectives began to consider foul play as a motive for her disappearance and the investigation has been transferred to the LVMPD Homicide section.

On September 9, 2020, LVMPD investigators, with the assistance of Moapa Tribal Police and Red Rock Search & Rescue, located Lesly Palacio’s body near Valley of Fire State Park in Moapa Valley.

Homicide detectives have identified 25-year-old Erick Rangel-Ibarra as the suspect in Palacio’s death and they will be pursuing a warrant for his arrest for one count of Open Murder.
