Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify 33-year-old Darrion Lamar Garry as the suspect in this case. Detectives located Garry on September 26, 2025, and took him into custody. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for Willful/ Malicious Torture/Maim/Kill an Animal.

On July 11th, 2025, at approximately 6:20 a.m., LVMPD officers responded to the 2600 block of Valley Street regarding an animal complaint. Responding officers contacted a citizen who found a deceased dog abandoned inside of a kennel near a dumpster.
According to video surveillance from July 10th, at approximately 11:45 p.m., two males were observed pushing a kennel to a nearby dumpster at 27th Street and Valley Street. Both males then continued walking northbound on 27th Street, then eastbound on Sunrise Avenue. It does appear that the dog was already deceased prior to being dumped by the two individuals.

The investigation is being led by the LVMPD Animal Cruelty Detail in conjunction with the Clark County Animal Protection Services and community partners. Detectives are asking for the community’s help in identifying the individuals responsible for this incident.
