On October 4, 2025, at approximately 10:22 a.m., a vehicle versus motorcycle collision occurred on East Washington Avenue at the intersection with North Bruce Street. Evidence at the collision scene, witness statements, and surveillance video indicated that a 2023 Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Washington Avenue, approaching a yellow traffic light at Bruce Street, in the right travel lane of two (T2), at a high rate of speed. A 1998 Ford F-150 truck was traveling westbound on Washington Avenue, approaching a yellow traffic signal at Bruce Street, in the only left-turn lane (L1). The Ford entered the intersection on the yellow traffic signal to make the left/southbound turn. A collision occurred when the rider of the Kawasaki failed to obey a red traffic signal and entered the intersection at a high rate of speed. The front of the Kawasaki collided with the front right portion of the Ford. The rider was ejected from the Kawasaki and came to rest on the roadway.
Arriving medical personnel performed life-saving measures on the rider. Despite all life-saving measures, the rider succumbed to his injuries, and he was pronounced deceased at the collision scene via telemetry.
Medical personnel transported the driver of the Ford to the UMC Trauma Center for claimed injuries. The driver of the Ford cooperated with the investigation and did not show signs of impairment. The rider’s death marked the 121st traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year 2025.
This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
