On October 23, 2025, at approximately 2:37 p.m., a vehicle versus E-Scooter collision occurred at the intersection of East Butternut Lane and North Charnut Lane. Evidence at the collision scene and witness statements indicated two juveniles were riding on a Trafly stand-up E-Scooter, northbound on Charnut Lane, approaching Butternut Lane. A 2017 Toyota Tundra truck had just made the left/westbound turn from Walnut Road and was traveling westbound on Butternut Lane, approaching Charnut Lane. A collision occurred when the two juveniles unlawfully entered the intersection and crossed the Toyota’s path of travel. The front of the Toyota collided with the right side of the E-Scooter, ejecting both juveniles to the ground. The Toyota subsequently ran over the passenger on the E-Scooter.

Arriving medical personnel performed life-saving measures on the juvenile passenger. Despite all life-saving measures, the juvenile passenger succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the collision scene via telemetry by a doctor at the UMC Trauma Center. The juvenile operator of the E-Scooter sustained moderate injuries from the collision and was transported to the UMC Trauma Center via ambulance.

The driver of the Toyota remained at the collision scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver of the Toyota showed no signs of impairment.

The juvenile passenger’s death marked the 130th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year 2025. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
