FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On November 2, 2025, at 7:07 a.m., a fatal automobile versus bicycle collision occurred on North Shaumber Road south of the intersection with West Grand Teton Drive. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated that a 2007 Mercedes SL550 was traveling southbound in the northbound travel lanes. A bicyclist was riding northbound on Shaumber south of the Mercedes. A collision occurred when the bicyclist attempted to maneuver out of the way of the oncoming vehicle. The front of the vehicle struck the bicyclist, projecting him to the south.
Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene of the collision and attempted life-saving measures. The bicycle was determined to have succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Mercedes remained at the scene of the collision and displayed signs of impairment. He was subsequently placed under arrest for charges related to Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving.
The bicyclist’s death marks the 132nd traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year 2025. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
