LVMPD Investigates the 5^th OIS of 2025

On November 23, 2025, at approximately 12:26 p.m., LVMPD officers responded to a carjacking in progress at an apartment complex in the 5100 block of Indian River Drive. The victim stated that the suspect was armed with a knife and had threatened him.

As officers arrived, they encountered the suspect near the entrance of the complex. Officers issued verbal commands and attempted to take him into custody. At some point, a physical altercation between the suspect and two officers occurred. During the fight, the male produced what officers believed to be a knife, causing an officer to discharge his firearm. The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken into custody. Medical personnel transported the individual to a nearby hospital.

This is the 5^th officer-involved shooting of 2025. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officer involved will be released after 48 hours.
