***Two vehicles versus pedestrian hit and run traffic collision that caused the death of the pedestrian in Laughlin, NV. This collision marks the 2nd traffic related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for the year 2026.***

On January 1, 2026, at approximately 9:07 p.m., a two vehicles versus pedestrian fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred at the 800 block of W. Casino Drive in Laughlin, NV. This collision occurred on a two lane roadway during the hours of darkness where there is no roadway lighting. Evidence at the collision scene indicated a pedestrian was walking in the roadway in an unknown direction on W. Casino Drive. An unknown vehicle was traveling west on W. Casino Drive and struck the pedestrian projecting her in a western direction. The pedestrian came to rest in the westbound travel lane on W. Casino Drive. The unknown vehicle fled the collision scene without rendering aid or calling 9-1-1. A short time later, a 2014 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on W. Casino Drive and struck the injured pedestrian. The driver brought her vehicle to a stop and called 9-1-1. 

Arriving medical personnel determined the pedestrian was beyond medical resuscitation and she was pronounced deceased at the collision scene. The driver of the Toyota remained at the collision scene and showed no signs of impairment. This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
