FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On January 6th, 2026, at approximately 7:34 a.m., LVMPD officers responded to a call for service reference a subject threatening another individual with a firearm at an apartment complex in the 9200 block of West Russell Road.
As officers arrived, they located an apartment where they could hear two individuals arguing inside. As the officers were standing outside of the apartment a female opened the door, and a male could be seen pointing a firearm at her. An officer discharged his firearm toward the suspect, striking him. Medical personnel were requested and transported the suspect to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
This is the 1st officer-involved shooting of 2026. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officer involved will be released after 48 hours.
