LVMPD Investigates 2nd OIS of 2026

On January 6, 2026, at approximately 9:05 a.m., a deputy with The Office of the Ex-Officio Constable for the Las Vegas Township was serving an eviction at an apartment complex located in the 6600 block of South Sandhill Road.

At some point the deputy and a maintenance worker entered the apartment and were confronted by a male armed with a machete. The suspect attacked both the deputy and the worker, causing the deputy to discharge his weapon, striking the suspect.

Arriving LVMPD officers rendered aid, and all three individuals were transported to local hospitals.

This is the 2nd officer-involved shooting of 2026. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officer involved will be released after 48 hours.
