The death of a pedestrian marks the 9th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for the year 2026.
On January 24, 2026, at approximately 11:57 p.m., a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision occurred near the intersection of East Sahara Avenue and Santa Clara Drive. A pedestrian was walking outside of a marked crosswalk across East Sahara Avenue, from south to north, entering the path of the Kia. A collision occurred when the front of the Kia struck the pedestrian's left side. The pedestrian was projected northeast onto the roadway.
Emergency medical personnel responded, and despite all life-saving procedures, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene via telemetry by a Sunrise Hospital emergency room physician.
