Automobile versus pedestrian collision results in life-threatening injuries.
On January 27, 2026, at approximately 5:17 PM, a critical injury collision occurred on East Tropicana Avenue and South Pecos Road. Evidence at the scene, statements from witnesses, and video surveillance indicate that a 2023 Hyundai Sonata traveled westbound on East Tropicana Avenue, approaching South Pecos Road. A pedestrian was near the northeast corner of the intersection of East Tropicana Avenue and South Pecos Road. A collision occurred when the Hyundai reached the intersection and proceeded through it with a green traffic signal. The pedestrian darted southbound into the path of the approaching Hyundai. The right front of the Hyundai struck the pedestrian, redirecting her eastbound and onto the roadway. The Hyundai then came to a controlled stop.
Arriving emergency medical personnel transported the pedestrian to Sunrise Hospital’s Trauma Unit with critical injuries. Medical personnel at Sunrise Hospital determined her injuries to be life-threatening and admitted her for continued life-saving care. The Hyundai driver remained at the scene of the collision and was not impaired. The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
