A single vehicle collision with a fixed object results in life-threatening injuries.
On February 2nd, 2026, at approximately 6:31 p.m., a single vehicle collision with a fixed object occurred on West Owens Avenue east of the intersection with A Street. Evidence at the scene indicated that a 2006 Toyota Prius was traveling eastbound on Owens Avenue, passing through the intersection with A Street, when the vehicle lost control. The vehicle drove over the center median and across the westbound travel lanes. The Toyota collided with the north curb line of Owens Avenue. The vehicle's driver’s side collided with a concrete support pole for the overhead train tracks. The vehicle then entered a rotation, crossed back over the center median, and came to rest in the eastbound travel lanes.
Emergency medical Services immediately responded to the collision scene. The driver and passenger were transported to the University Medical Center Trauma Center for treatment of their injuries. The driver remains at the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The passenger was treated by hospital staff and released later that evening.
This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Section.
