FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On February 8, 2026, at approximately 1:26 p.m., a vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred on East Charleston Boulevard, east of Spencer Street. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a male pedestrian, in a personal mobility scooter, was crossing Charleston Boulevard northbound, outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. A 2007 Toyota Tacoma was traveling eastbound on Charleston Boulevard in the left of two eastbound travel lanes (T1). A collision occurred when the pedestrian entered the Toyota’s travel lane. The left front of the Toyota struck the pedestrian, who was projected eastward onto the roadway.
The pedestrian sustained substantial injuries and was transported to Sunrise Hospital. At the time of his admission to the hospital, his injuries did not meet the criteria for a Collision Investigation Section response.
On February 23, 2026, a representative from the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section and advised that the pedestrian, despite all life-saving measures, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on February 23, 2025. The pedestrian’s death marked the 22nd traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD jurisdiction for the year 2026.
