 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pickup versus pedestrian results in the 32nd traffic -related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for the year 2026.

On March 21, 2026, at approximately 6:06 a.m., a fatal pickup versus pedestrian collision occurred on North Nellis Boulevard, south of Meikle Lane. Evidence at the scene, witness statements, and video surveillance indicate that a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac pickup traveled northbound on North Nellis Boulevard, approaching Meikle Lane. A pedestrian crossed North Nellis Boulevard west to east, south of Meikle Lane, outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. A collision occurred when the pedestrian entered the northbound travel lanes and into the path of the approaching Ford. The front right of the Ford struck the pedestrian, redirecting her onto the roadway. The Ford came to a controlled stop north of Meikle Lane. The Ford driver called 9-1-1 and remained at the scene of the collision. The Ford driver was not impaired.

Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the pedestrian to University Medical Center's Trauma Center, where despite all life-saving measures, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
