Vehicle versus pickup collision results in the 33rd traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for the year 2026.
On March 23, 2026, at approximately 6:51 AM, a fatal vehicle versus pickup collision occurred at the intersection of West Sunset Road and South Cimarron Road. Evidence at the collision scene and a witness statement indicated a 2024 Ram pickup was traveling eastbound on Sunset Road, approaching the intersection of Cimarron Road. A 2023 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Cimarron Road, approaching a stop sign at the intersection of Sunset Road. The driver of the Toyota failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection and entered the path of the Ram. A collision occurred when the front of the Ram contacted the right front of the Toyota. The vehicles were redirected in a southeast direction. The Ram came to rest in the roadway, and the Toyota continued into a metal fence of an apartment complex, where it came to rest.
The driver and right front passenger of the Toyota were transported to UMC Trauma for substantial injuries. Despite all life-saving measures, the driver of the Toyota succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at UMC. The right front passenger was admitted to UMC for his injuries.
The driver of the Ram sustained minor injuries and remained at the collision scene, and did not show signs of impairment.
This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
