***Vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision that resulted in the death of the pedestrian. This collision marks the 40th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for the year 2026.***

On April 19, 2026, at approximately 1:09 p.m., a vehicle versus pedestrian fatal traffic collision occurred on South Casino Drive and Tropicana Drive, Laughlin, Nevada. Evidence at the collision scene, video surveillance, and witness statements indicated a pedestrian was crossing South Casino Drive from west to east, north of a marked crosswalk. A 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southbound on South Casino Drive in the left lane of two travel lanes at Tropicana Drive. The pedestrian entered the Jeep's path, and a collision occurred when the Jeep's front right struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was projected in a southwest direction and came to rest along the west curb. The driver of the Jeep brought his vehicle to a controlled stop just south of the collision.

Arriving emergency medical personnel transported the pedestrian to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving at the Medical center, despite all life-saving measures, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased by the medical center staff. The driver of the Jeep showed no signs of impairment.

This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
