***Hit-and-Run collision results in life-threatening injuries to a pedestrian***
On April 28th, 2026, at approximately 9:34 p.m., a hit-and-run vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred at the intersection of West Lake Mead Boulevard and North Torrey Pines Drive. Evidence at the scene and surveillance video indicated that a pedestrian was attempting to cross Lake Mead Boulevard from north to south on the west side of the intersection, in a marked crosswalk with the walk signal. A white 2021 GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling southbound on Torrey Pines Drive in the rightmost travel lane, approaching the intersection with Lake Mead Boulevard. The driver failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian, knocking her to the ground and running her over with the left tires of the truck. The driver fled the scene without providing any identifying information.
Emergency Medical Services responded to the collision scene and began life-saving measures. The pedestrian was transported to the University Medical Center, where it was determined the injuries were life-threatening.
The GMC and the driver were later located. He was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on applicable charges. The driver showed no signs of impairment.
This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Section.
