Driver’s death marks the 47th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Jurisdiction for the year 2026.
On May 22, 2026, at approximately 11:33 a.m., a fatal vehicle versus vehicle traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Desert Horizons Drive. Evidence at the scene, witness statements, and video surveillance indicated that a 2025 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on Boulder Highway, south of Desert Horizons Drive, in the left of three travel lanes, at a high rate of speed. A 2024 Chrysler Pacifica was stopped for a posted stop sign on westbound Desert Horizons Drive, east of Boulder Highway, waiting to make a left turn to travel southbound onto Boulder Highway. The Chrysler began to enter the intersection, traveling in front of the Hyundai. A collision occurred when the front of the Hyundai struck the driver’s side of the Chrysler. Both vehicles were redirected to the northwest.
Arriving medical personnel determined that the driver of the Chrysler was beyond medical resuscitation and was pronounced deceased at the collision scene. The passenger of the Chrysler and the driver of the Hyundai were transported to Sunrise Hospital. The driver of the Hyundai did not show signs of impairment and was admitted to the hospital. The driver of the Hyundai was booked via abstentia for reckless driving-related charges.
