On May 28, 2026, at approximately 9:32 p.m., a vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred on South Decatur Boulevard, south of Spring Mountain Road. Evidence at the collision scene, witness statements, and surveillance video indicated that a 2013 Toyota RAV 4 was traveling southbound on Decatur Boulevard, south of Spring Mountain Road, in the left travel lane of three (T1). A pedestrian was crossing over Decatur Boulevard, south of Spring Mountain Road, from west to east, outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. A collision occurred when the pedestrian crossed the Toyota’s path of travel. The front of the Toyota collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian was projected forward onto the roadway and was subsequently run over by the Toyota. 

Arriving medical personnel performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian. Despite all life-saving measures, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the collision scene via telemetry. 

The driver of the Toyota remained at the collision and displayed signs of impairment. The driver was later arrested for DUI-related charges.

The pedestrian’s death marked the 49th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year 2026. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
