FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Motorcyclist’s passenger’s death marks the 56th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2026.
On June 27, 2026, at approximately 6:47 p.m., a motorcycle versus fixed objects collision occurred on West Cactus Avenue, east of South Cameron Street. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated that a 2021 Harley-Davidson Road Glide was traveling westbound on Cactus Avenue in the right shoulder, passing vehicles on the right. A vehicle was making a right turn into a private drive as the Harley-Davidson approached. The Harley-Davidson veered to the right, leaving the roadway, traveling on to the sidewalk on the north side of the street. A collision occurred when the Harley-Davidson began striking multiple fixed objects, causing the passenger to be ejected from the motorcycle. The Harley-Davidson came to rest just off the sidewalk, lodged between a tree and a brick retaining wall.
Emergency medical personnel transported the operator of the Harley-Davidson to the University Medical Center’s (UMC) Trauma Center. The passenger was beyond medical resuscitation and was pronounced deceased at the collision scene. The operator of the Harley-Davidson sustained serious injuries and showed no signs of impairment. The operator was booked in absentia at the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC) on reckless driving charges.
This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
