***E-bicyclist suffers life-threatening injuries as a result of a vehicle versus e-bicycle collision. ***

On August 2, 2026, at approximately 11:16 p.m., a vehicle versus e-bicycle collision occurred at the intersection of East Sahara Avenue and South Burnham Street. Evidence at the collision scene, video surveillance, and a witness statement indicated that a 2016 Honda CRV was traveling northbound on South Burnham Street, approaching the intersection of East Sahara Avenue. A male bicyclist rode his e-bicycle eastbound on East Sahara Avenue and entered the intersection with South Burnham Street against a solid red traffic signal. A collision occurred when the e-bicyclist, who had disregarded the red traffic signal, entered the intersection into the path of the Honda. The bicycle was struck on its right side by the Honda’s left-front area. The collision caused the e bicycle rider to be ejected from the bicycle. The rider then fell to the ground, coming to a rest in the westbound lanes of the intersection. The Honda driver immediately brought his vehicle to a controlled stop north of the intersection.

Arriving emergency medical personnel responded to the collision scene and transported the e-bicyclist to Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center, where he remains with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Honda remained at the collision scene and showed no signs of impairment. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
