Suspect Arrested in Connection with Political Sign Vandalism

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On August 3, 2026, LVMPD detectives began investigating what eventually became an ongoing vandalism series of political campaign signs across our valley. During this incident the suspect would spray paint swastikas on the signs.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to use automated license plate reader technology to identify and locate 73-year-old David Smith as the suspect in this case. On August 24, 2026, Smith was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for Place Graffiti or Deface Property, $5,000+.
The investigation into the vandalism of other political signs in our valley remains ongoing.
