On August 25, 2026, at approximately 10:29 a.m., a vehicle versus vehicle injury collision occurred on West Vermont Avenue and North Harvard Street. Evidence at the collision scene and witness statements indicated that a 2000 GMC Yukon was westbound on Vermont Ave in the only west travel lane. A 2000 Chevrolet Suburban was stopped facing south at a stop sign on Harvard Street in the only south travel lane. A collision occurred when the GMC Yukon was completing a left U-turn and, for unknown reasons, continued turning left 360 degrees and collided into the Chevrolet Suburban, pushing it into a light pole on the northwest corner.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the collision scene and transported the driver of the GMC Yukon to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Center. The driver of the GMC Yukon was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

The Chevrolet Suburban driver remained at the collision scene, showed no signs of impairment, and cooperated with the investigation. The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban later self-transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.A juvenile passenger in the Chevrolet Suburban did not have any injuries.

The LVMPD Collision Investigation Section is awaiting the Clark County Coroner’s investigation and determination for cause and manner of death. This collision will not be counted as a Traffic-related fatality until a determination has been made, and it currently remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
