FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On August 27, 2026, at approximately 12:49 a.m., LVMPD Communications received a report of an individual stabbed near South 3rd Street and Hoover Avenue. Patrol officers arrived and located a male on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent stab wound. While officers were on scene LVMPD Communications was notified of a second male victim in the 1200 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard. Additional officers located that victim who was also suffering from apparent stab wounds. Medical personnel were requested and transported both victims to a nearby hospital. One victim was later pronounced deceased, and the second victim was listed in critical condition.
A short time later, patrol officers were able to locate and detain a possible suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Gregory Turpin.
The LVMPD Homicide Section was notified and responded. During their investigation, detectives learned Turpin and the two victims were unhoused. Turpin accused the two victims of stealing his property, leading to him stabbing both individuals.
Turpin was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon.
The identification of the decedent, as well as the cause and manner of death, can be obtained through the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
