 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On August 28, 2026, at approximately 5:16 a.m., LVMPD patrol officers were in a parking lot in the 6300 block of West Charleston Boulevard when they were approached by a female armed with an edged weapon. The suspect began banging on the officers’ patrol vehicles with the weapon. The officers exited their vehicles and the female continued acting aggressively toward the officers. They issued the suspect verbal commands to drop the weapon, but she refused and walked toward an officer demanding she be shot. One of the officers attempted to use an electronic control device but it was ineffective. The suspect continued to advance toward the officer causing them to discharge their firearm striking the suspect.

Officers took the female into custody and began rendering aid. Medical personnel arrived and transported the suspect to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition.

This is the 11th officer-involved shooting of 2026. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officer involved will be released after 48 hours.
