***A vehicle versus pedestrian collision leads to the 81st traffic-related fatality. ***

On August 29, 2026, at approximately 2:19 a.m., a single-vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred on West Tropicana Avenue, west of South Edmond Street. Evidence at the collision scene and witness statements indicated that a pedestrian was crossing northbound across West Tropicana Avenue west of Edmond Street outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. A collision occurred when the pedestrian entered the path of a 2013 Nissan Juke small SUV traveling eastbound on West Tropicana Avenue. The front of the Nissan struck the pedestrian, projecting him onto the roadway. The driver of the Nissan immediately brought his vehicle to a controlled stop east of the intersection.

Emergency medical personnel arrived and determined the pedestrian was beyond medical resuscitation and was pronounced deceased at the collision scene.

The driver of the Nissan remained at the collision scene but did show signs of impairment. He was arrested and booked into Clark County Detention Center for DUI-related charges. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section.
