Location: Ansan Sister City Park at 7801 Ducharme Ave.
Date: July 26, 2009

Synopsis: On Sunday, July 26 at 12:25 a.m., two young black males robbed and assaulted a young woman at gunpoint in the Ansan Sister City Park near Buffalo and Alta Drive. As the suspects walked away from their female victim, they saw Kevin Franchow walking in the park as he usually did in the evenings. For no apparent reason, one of the suspects shot and killed Franchow as he passed by. The two suspects then ran to an awaiting gray or silver car and fled the area. Franchow was partially deaf and blind and suffered from a mental disability. He walked in the park at night because his skin was sensitive to direct sunlight.

Date: July 26, 2009

Synopsis: On June 9, 2009, at approximately 5:47 a.m., Wyatt Marcel King Jr. was found lying in the street near the intersection of Peach Ridge Court and Aspen Cove Street. Medical personnel responded and determined King had suffered apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation confirmed that King was the victim of a homicide. The suspect remains unknown.

Synopsis: On April 28, 2008, the body of Joseph Lopez was found in the storm drain under Tropicana Avenue, west of the I-215. An autopsy revealed Lopez had been shot to death. Lopez had attended Durango High School, but was a student at Spring Valley High School at the time of his murder.

Location: 5685 S. Mountain Vista Las Vegas, NV

Synopsis: The victim was meeting some friends at the convenience store. While in the parking lot the victim got into a verbal argument with another male over gang affiliation. The victim punched the other male and knocked him down. The suspect then approached with a gun and fired five times at the victim. The victim was hit multiple times and died as a result of his injuries.

Date: December 15, 2007

 

Synopsis:
On December 15, 2007, at approximately 1025 hours, multiple gunshots were reported in the area of 1065 Lisbon. Upon police arrival, the body of Cortney Lester Butts, a Black male, was found on the sidewalk in the courtyard area just north of apartment #4. Butts had been shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at Sunrise Hospital.

Witnesses reported seeing a dark brown four-door Chevy Malibu driving east down the alley near 1065 Lisbon. The vehicle stopped, and the driver, described as a Black male adult between 20-25 years old, approximately 5’6” tall with a thin build and wearing a black doo rag, exited and began shooting at the victim. Butts ran into the courtyard, and the suspect re-entered the Chevy, fleeing eastbound down the alleyway.

Location: 10000 Block of W. Reno Ave.
Date: April 28, 2007, 11:54 p.m.

Synopsis: On April 28, 2007 at approx. midnight, Byron Harris was found lying in the street in the 10000 block of W. Reno Ave., next to his bicycle. A passing motorist who called police thought he had been struck by a car. Upon further investigation, it was learned that Harris died as a result of a stab wound to the upper chest. There were no witnesses to the crime. No information has come in since this incident occurred. Harris lived alone in the 9900 block of Peace Way, which is not far from where he was found.

Synopsis: Between the evening hours of 2-16-2007 and morning of 2-17-2007, the victim Brianna Schlick was babysitting at a residence in the 7300 block of Sundown Glen Street LV NV. An unknown subject(s) entered the locked residence and encountered the victim sleeping on the living room couch. The victim was shot once in the head, and to date no investigative leads have identified the suspect(s) of this crime.

Date: November 11, 2006 at approximately 4:35 a.m.

Synopsis: On Saturday, November 11, 2006, after leaving the Quick Mart at 6060 Boulder Highway, at approximately 4:01 a.m., victim Reba Bleak was driven by her friend to the Four Aces bar just east of the Quick Mart, where she met and spoke with friends. At approximately 4:30 a.m., Bleak had her friend drive her to the Beigger Estates, located at 5701 Missouri Ave, to purchase cocaine. At one point, Bleak saw someone she thought she could purchase cocaine from near building 24 and called the black male and another unknown black male over to the GMC SUV she was a passenger in. As the two males approached, Bleak yelled, “Go, go go” and the driver attempted to speed away. However, after hearing gunshots and his back window shatter, the driver observed Bleak deceased.

Location: 513 Fredrick Las Vegas, NV (Berkley Square)
Date: May 28, 2006

Synopsis: On Sunday, June 28, 2006, a combination block party and car show was taking place in the 500 block of Frederick Avenue, adjacent to Walker Avenue. At approximately 8:43 p.m., LVMPD dispatch received several 911 calls from citizens stating there were several people shooting into the hundreds of gathered partiers. Patrol units responded and witnessed mass hysteria as the several hundred citizens, attending the party, were fleeing in all directions.

Eight victims were shot, all of which were transported by medical personnel with the exception of Steven Beck who died on the sidewalk in front of 513 Frederick. Two victims, Gemar Samuel and Tina Robles died as a result of their gunshot wounds at the University Medical Center, Trauma Unit later that evening. The entire 500 block of Frederick was cordoned off using crime scene tape. Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Analysts respond to the scene to begin an investigation. Dozens of people were interviewed; to date none of the suspects have been identified.

Synopsis: The LVMPD Homicide Section is seeking the assistance of all residents who reside at 1591 Chartered Circle. On April 20, 2006 at 11:35 p.m., Rashad West (pictured at left) was shot and killed in front of Building "B" after arriving home with his girlfriend. The suspect is described as a black male adult, in his early 20's, wearing a white t-shirt and a white baseball cap.

Synopsis: On March 4, 2006 at approximately 4:45 p.m., the body of Vanessa Eileen Zambrano was found in the marsh area at Lake Mead, near the Government Wash boat launch ramp. The investigation revealed that Zambrano's death was a homicide.

Location: 821 N. Bruce Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101, Apartment 1
Victim Vehicle:1997 Dodge Neon
Date: December 29, 2005

Synopsis: On December 29, 2005, an apartment manager called 911 about a foul odor coming from 821 N. Bruce Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101, Apartment 1. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on scene and went into the apartment.

Inside was a man's body in a moderate state of decomposition. Investigators learned the man, identified as Daniel Zeisler, was a homicide victim. He had been strangled to death with a telephone cord. LVMPD homicide detective discovered Zeisler's 1997 Dodge Neon was missing along with his house keys.

On January 19, 2006, the vehicle was found abandoned in Memphis, Tennessee. The vehicle was processed for evidence and a DNA profile of a suspect was recovered. Detectives recovered surveillance video from a store of an unknown, white male, who had used the victim's bank card. He was dressed in a maroon hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Location: 5300 block W. Gowan Rd. Las Vegas, NV
Date: December 22, 2005

Synopsis: On December 25, 2005, at approximately 5:10 p.m., James Stacy was walking in the 5300 block of W. Gowan, on his way home, when an unknown black male shot him. Several persons stopped to help Stacy. Stacy only told witnesses that he was shot by a black male who was on foot and that he won $700.00 at the Fiesta Hotel.

Numerous witnesses were interviewed, however no one saw the suspect. Video from the Fiesta Hotel, the CAT bus and the Funny's convenience store he was in just prior to the shooting, did not reveal any BMA's following him.

Synopsis: On November 27, 2005 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Gregory Robertson was discovered at 1910 Ferrell St., inside a green, Chevy Trail Blazer bearing Nevada license plates 473-RKR; dead from apparent gunshot wounds to the head. The investigation revealed that Robertson's death was a homicide.

Date: August 23, 2005

Synopsis: The late morning of August 23, 2005, Julie and Ronald Miller had just arrived at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino for an early lunch when they were approached in the parking lot by a black male - approximately 30 years of age, 6' tall, thin to medium build, and light skin complexion- who displayed a handgun and demanded money. The subject ultimately shot both Julie and Ronald Miller, and fled in a late model, white or silver, Dodge Magnum station wagon. Julie died as a result of her injuries.

The Suncoast Hotel and Casino has offered a reward of up to $100,000 in this case.

Synopsis: On August 9, 2005 at 6:44 p.m., LVMPD patrol officers along with medical personnel were dispatched to 1413 Manzanita Way reference a person being shot. The victim, later identified as Sergio Alvarenga, was discovered laying in the driveway of 1413 Manzanita Way, dead from apparent gunshot wound(s) to the head.

5'6 to 5'8, slightly muscular build
Suspect: Unknown
Location: Desert Area 3.7 Miles East of Hollywood 300 yards South of Lake Mead Blvd.

Synopsis: Hikers located the skeletal remains of the victim in a small cave in a sandstone rock formation. The entrance had been partially covered with smaller stones. The remains and clothing were recovered. Upon examination it was determined that the victim had been murdered with a single gunshot wound to the back of the head. The victim is believed to have been dead anywhere from 3 months to a year prior to being found. The victim was also in the process of having a root canal done when he was murdered. An artist's rendition of the victim's clothing is also attached below.

Location: 370 E. Harmon (Harbor Island Apartments)
Date: April 4, 2005

Synopsis: On April 4, 2005 Brian Pullen was found murdered in his weekly apartment at the Harbor Island Apartments at 370 E. Harmon, located behind the Hard Rock Hotel. Pullen was new to Las Vegas and had recently moved from the Cleveland Ohio area. At the time of his death, Pullen was working at the Luxor as a dealer.

Location: 7th Street and Mesquite Avenue, Las Vegas, NV
Date: March 22, 2005

On March 22, 2005, at approximately 3:44 a.m., a witness in the area of 7th Street and Mesquite Avenue observed what appeared to be a body lying in the curb of the street. The witness flagged down a passing patrol vehicle, and officers were summoned to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a Black male adult lying face down on 7th Street. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Clark County Coroner’s Office later determined the victim had been stabbed in the chest. He was identified as Harry Hays Howard.

At the time of his death, Harry Howard was wearing a green fleece-lined jacket, a blue plaid shirt, a gray t-shirt, black pants, and black shoes. He worked at the California Hotel and Casino, where his shift ended at 4:00 p.m. the previous day. When Harry failed to return home or call, his wife went to the California Hotel and found his vehicle still parked in the lot.

Detectives learned Harry was last seen withdrawing cash from an ATM at 1:56 a.m. on March 22. He was known to frequent the Western Hotel to play pool, but it is unclear where he went after his shift ended.

Cornelius Creal 041217-2570Victim: Cornelius Creal, 21

Location: 15th & Carson
Date: December 17, 2004

Synopsis: On December 17, 2004, Downtown patrol officers responded to a call of “shots fired” in the area of 15th and Carson. Officers arrived and found Cornelius Creal lying in the street. Creal had been shot multiple times. Creal was alive when officers arrived but was unresponsive. Creal was transported to UMC trauma and subsequently died on January 10, 2005, as a result of the multiple gunshot wounds he sustained. A witness observed a dark colored, mid-sized, sedan by Creal after the shooting.

Location: Crime scene location is unknown – Recovered 3451 Losee Rd, North Las Vegas
Date: Body discovered – January 28, 2005 – Reported missing December 29, 2004

Synopsis: Alexander Goldstein was last seen alive, by his girlfriend, on December 23, 2004; he was reported missing, by his father, on December 29, 2004. Alexander's body was found in the trunk of his car, a black 1998 Lexus GS400, NV 392-PPE on January 28, 2005. The car was located in a tow yard in North Las Vegas. The car had been towed from an apartment complex at 5900 Sky Point Dr., Las Vegas. An autopsy determined Alexander died as the result of multiple gunshot wounds.

Date: November 14, 2004

Synopsis: On November 14, 2004 at approximately 10:27 p.m., LVMPD Dispatch received a 911 call reporting that someone was shot at the Cayman Bay Apartments located at 2701 N. Rainbow. Patrol Officers responded and located Israel Ramos-Barrios, the apparent victim of a gunshot wound. He was transported to UMC Trauma where he succumbed to his injuries.

Location: Desert Area near Hualapai Way and Tompkins, Las Vegas, NV
Date: 11-01-04

Synopsis: On October 28, 2004, employees of the Rio Hotel and Casino called LVMPD to report their co-worker Theresa Insana had not reported in to work for two days with no notification. They explained this was completely unlike Theresa and feared for her safety. LVMPD officers responded to Insana's residence and gained entry. Her personal belongings including her purse, and her pet dog were still in the residence. There were bloodstains in the residence.

On November 4, 2004 two men operating excavating equipment near Arch Culvert #11, near Hualapai and Peace Way, observed the decomposing body of a human laying near the culvert. The victim was later identified as Theresa Insana.

Date: February 13, 2004

Synopsis: On February 13, 2004, a citizen reported finding a bone in a desert area near the coordinates of N35.49.27.7 and W115.11.52.6. Detectives responded and determined that the bones were human and were encased in concrete prior to being buried in a shallow grave. The victim was later identified as Jamie Sheldon, who had been reported missing in May 2002. Detectives have been unable to identify a suspect in this case. The LVMPD Homicide Section is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect(s) or obtaining any additional information for this crime.

Location: 44 Congressional Ct., Las Vegas, NV
Date: September 28, 2003

Synopsis: Harold Seeman's sons were unable to contact their father for several days; being concerned for his welfare they made contact with Security at the Spanish Trails' community, where Harold resided. One of the Security Officers went to Harold's home and located him, deceased, on the floor. A fire occurred within the room where Harold was located; an apparent attempt to destroy evidence. The autopsy determined that Harold Seeman died from strangulation. Investigators looked into several people with access to Harold's home as possible suspects.

The family has posted a $100,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Harold's death.

Synopsis: The late evening of September 9, 2003, Aaron M. Church, was leaving an acquaintance's residence, driving his maroon, 2003 Saturn Ion, in the vicinity of Dinning Ave. and Hinkle St., when he was shot numerous times. Church's body was found in the street, and his vehicle recovered a few blocks away.

Four young black males were seen abandoning Church's vehicle in the 300 block of Shadybrook Lane.

Location: Smith and Wollensky (parking lot) 3767 Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV
Date: August 11, 2003

Synopsis: On August 11, 2003, Abera Asmamaw, a cab driver for Western Cab Co., was found dead inside his cab, in the rear parking lot to Smith & Wollensky’s restaurant. Abera was discovered at approximately 12:30 p.m. A witness, who was painting a wall to the rear of the restaurant, saw the cab about an hour before sunrise. The cab log showed his last recorded pick-up at the MGM hotel at approximately 5:25 a.m. with a possible destination as McCarran Airport. An autopsy determined Abera died as the result of strangulation. There are no known witnesses. Robbery is the suspected motive.

Location:1200 feet west of US 95, mile marker 52.
Date: August 11, 2003

 Synopsis: On August 11, 2003 at approximately 7:18 a.m., Steven Webb, a gravel truck driver discovered the body of a Hispanic female in the desert area just south of the haul road located approximately 1200 feet west of US 95, mile marker 52.

On August 22, 2003, Boulder City Police Detectives and LVMPD Detectives identified the body of the Hispanic female as Victoria Camara. The Clark County Coroner's Office confirmed the identity. It's believed Camara was murdered in the Las Vegas area therefore LVMPD homicide took over the investigation.

Synopsis: On April 7, 2003, at approximately 12:44 a.m., LVMPD patrol officers responded to the south alley of 995 Sierra Vista Dr., Las Vegas, Nevada. Officers discovered Tangelene Mayfield, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Another victim was also located in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, that victim was transported to University Medical Center for treatment and released.

Synopsis: On March 22, 2003 at approximately 2:30 a.m., brothers Chris and Peter Inge were shot and killed while in the parking lot of 1012 W. Owens (Nucleus Plaza), outside of the Heritage Lounge. One of the decedents was found inside of a car, while the second was found directly outside the car.

Witnesses reported that the suspects fled the area in an older model Lincoln with a two-tone color scheme of light gray over dark gray. The vehicle displayed temporary paper plates.

Although numerous people were in the area at the time of the shooting, the majority either refused to give a statement or stated they did not see anything.

Location: Discovered in the area of Far Hills Dr. & I-215, Las Vegas, NV
Date: Found on February 3, 2003

Synopsis: On Saturday, February 1, 2003, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Carol Miller left her residence at 9033 Robinson Ridge Dr. (Canyon Gate development) for a walk. Carol typically walked, for exercise, out of the gated community in the evening. When she didn't return home by 8:00 p.m., her husband reported her missing.

On Monday, February 3, 2003, a construction worker who was driving to a construction site, West on Far Hills Rd. discovered Carol's body on the side of the road. It was determined that Carol died from asphyxiation by strangulation. It is still unknown how or from where she was abducted along her walk route. Several pieces of jewelry were missing from her body.

Synopsis: On July 15, 2002 at approximately 3:12 p.m., a citizen in the 5000 block of S. Spencer St. tried to contact his downstairs neighbors. After receiving no answer at the door, he looked through a window to see one of the occupants of the condominium down on the floor obviously injured. The neighbor called 911 and upon the arrival of police, entry was made into the condominium. Inside the two victims were discovered dead from gunshot wounds. Their dog had also been shot.

Synopsis: On Thursday, April 18, 2002, at approximately 5:45 a.m., the body of 17-year-old Nyeisha Monique Johnson was discovered by tourists on the shoulder of Kyle Canyon Road, approximately two miles west of US95. Nyeisha died from multiple stab wounds. She was last seen on April 16, 2002, between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m., walking in the area of Las Vegas Boulevard and Charleston Boulevard.

The investigation revealed that Sierra's death was a homicide. The closest major streets to the crime scene were W. Cheyenne Avenue and N. Rancho Drive.

Location: 9457 South Las Vegas Boulevard Las Vegas, NV
Date: March 9, 2002

Synopsis: On March 9, 2002, at approximately 2304 hours, LVMPD patrol officers responded to the Paradise Spa Apartments located at 9457 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada regarding a car-to-car shooting. Officers discovered the rear passenger in a 1962 green Chevrolet Impala had been shot twice causing his death. The front passenger in the vehicle was also shot, he was transported to the hospital and survived.

Detectives determined the green Chevrolet pulled into a convenience store and gas station at 780 E. Pyle Street to buy cigarettes and talk to females. Two cars followed the Chevrolet out of the parking lot and shot at the occupants of the Chevy. The vehicles were described as a white sedan possibly a Buick Regal and a dark red sedan possibly a Lincoln.

Location: Maslow Park, 4902 Lana Ave. Las Vegas, NV
Date: October 9, 2001

Synopsis: On October 9, 2001, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Hector Perez was shot during a drive-by shooting. Hector was sitting on the bleachers at the baseball field, Maslow Park, talking with a group of kids when the suspect vehicle (black or purple Dodge Neon) drove through the parking lot. Witnesses said someone in the front passenger seat fired several gunshots at the group of kids on the bleachers. Everyone scattered. After the chaos settled down, witnesses found Hector lying on the bleachers with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Hector was transported to the University Medical Center-Trauma Unit were he was pronounced dead. The case was highlighted during an episode on AMERICA’S MOST WANTED in December, 2001. To date there have been no tips which have helped to identify the suspect.

Synopsis: On September 26, 2001 a man walking his dogs in the desert area of Hualapai and Sunset came across a shallow grave containing a human body. The LVMPD responded to the scene and discovered the remains of Wanine Moreira Rodriguez, a 34-year-old Brazilian female. Unknown person or persons had transported the victim to the desert location.

Due to the advanced decomposed status of the body, the Medical Examiner was unable to determine the cause or manner of death.

Date: June 30, 2001

Synopsis: At approximately 1:15 a.m., June 30, 2001, a security officer at the apartment complex, 3190 Tarpon Dr. discovered Jerry Stamper lying unconscious, on the ground, with blood on his face. Paramedics responded but found Jerry had died from trauma to the head. Investigators learned that the first police officers at the scene found Jerry's wallet lying empty next to his body.

Investigators found that Jerry was last seen alive approximately one hour earlier, when he made a small purchase at the 7-Eleven, 3421 E. Tropicana. Jerry was on foot when he left the store. The store was a short walk from the apartment complex where Jerry was found.

There are no known witnesses to the apparent robbery and murder of Jerry Stamper.

Synopsis: On June 6, 2001 at approximately 1:46 p.m., LVMPD Dispatch received a call of a body found in the back seat of a gold, 1990 Chrysler New Yorker, parked in the parking lot of the Indoor Swap Meet located at 574 N. Eastern Ave. The victim was identified as Gabriel Barron Camacho, he was known to his friends as Santana. The gold, 1990 Chrysler New Yorker was registered to the victim who was employed at Southwest Systems as an electrician. Camacho was also known to his friends as Santana Callers.

Synopsis: At approximately 5:35 p.m., on February 1, 2001, Gina Marie Holliday's body was found by dune buggy riders in the desert area southeast of Sahara and Hollywood. Gina was found with her hands tied and obvious trauma to her head. Gina was last seen alive when she stopped to visit her two year old son who was with the child's father, on January 31. Gina left driving a green 1996 Cadillac. The Cadillac was found on February 2, 2001, in the 2200 block of Dolly. The vehicle had been stripped of the tires and the sound system.

Location: 2881 N. Rancho Drive
Date: November 30, 2000

Synopsis: On Thursday, November 30, 2000, at approximately 11:31 p.m., several citizens made 911 calls to the LVMPD regarding an incident that just occurred at the Rancho Mesa apartment complex located at 2881 North Rancho Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada 89130.

After the responding patrol officers and medical personnel arrived in the area they found the victim, who was later identified as Elbert Bibbs, behind the wheel of a vehicle he was operating. Medical personnel determined Bibbs was beyond medical intervention, and Bibbs was later pronounced dead at the crime-scene.

From conducting a crime scene investigation and interviewing the available witnesses the Homicide Detectives learned Bibbs was on his way to work as a security officer when an unknown assailant approached and murdered him.

Over the course of the investigation none of the interviewed witnesses provided a motive for the crime, and the Homicide Section Detectives have not received information from individuals wishing to remain anonymous, to aid in solving this crime.

Synopsis: During the early morning hours of October 10, 2000, Essie Otten was sitting at on bus bench waiting for the bus to take her to work. Essie was approached by a black male who demanded her money. Essie gave him her money, however, he shot her. The suspect either took Essie or she ran behind a nearby building, after being shot, and attempted to sexually assault her.

Date: November 1, 2000

Synopsis: At approximately 7:00 p.m., on November 1, 2000, Daniel Saucedo was shot and killed when two men robbed him at gunpoint. The suspect stole the 1988 Chevrolet Caprice, which Daniel had borrowed from a friend. The car was later recovered at the intersection of Valley Forge and Virgil. Apparently Daniel saw the two suspects trying to steal the car and went to confront them. One of the suspects shot Daniel, the other fled in the car and the shooter left on foot. The suspects were described as black males, 20 to 30 years old, and 5'8 to 5'10.

Date: November 23, 2000

Synopsis: On November 23, 2000 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Andre Stampley was shot and killed outside the SRO Club at 1700 E. Flamingo Rd. Officers were in the rear parking lot monitoring the crowd leaving the business when they heard gunfire in front of the business. When the officers got around to the front, they found Andre Stampley deceased in the middle of Flamingo Rd. as a result of gunshot wounds. Although there were hundreds of people at the club at the time of the shooting, detectives have not located any witnesses that will admit to seeing the shooting.

Synopsis: On 05/11/00, Otto Kinsey, arrived in Las Vegas from Minneapolis by a commercial airline carrier. Kinsey was scheduled to fly back to Minneapolis on 05/19/08. Kinsey never made his scheduled flight and hasn't been seen since. Kinsey Otto is presumed to be a victim of a homicide that occurred in the Las Vegas area.

Date: January 23, 2000

Synopsis: At approximately 11:45 p.m., January 23, 2000, LVMPD patrol officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding the victim lying on the sidewalk at Edmund St. and El Parque Ave. When patrol officer arrived they discovered Ryan with an obvious gunshot wound to the chest. Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation determined that Ryan was riding a bicycle through the area when he encountered the suspect(s). The reason behind the shooting is still unknown.

Location: Area of "H" Street and Owens, Las Vegas, NV
Date: January 8, 2000

Synopsis: Steve Wilson was driving, a white 1999 Ford Explorer, Nevada plates 721GWB, westbound on Owens, West of "H" Street when he was shot. He drove, while injured, into the intersection, running a red light, where he was struck by another vehicle. Steve's vehicle caromed into the parking lot of the Westland Plaza shopping center, 1061 W. Owens, where it finally came to rest after crashing through a chain link fence and various landscaping planters. Steve was transported to University Medical Center, Trauma Unit, where he succumbed to his wounds.

A witness reported seeing Steve's vehicle stopped on Jackson St. near "F" Street. A black male, 18 to 25 years old, 5'6" to 5"7', 165 pounds wearing a red baseball cap, red shoes, dark pants, and a dark jacket was seen getting into the Explorer. The witness heard several gunshots, followed shortly after by the Explorer crashing into the parking lot.
