Apply for a CCW Permit Online

You are required to upload identification documents and a completed Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate. Altered certificates with white-out, cross outs, etc. will not be accepted. (Note: Your Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate cannot be dated more than one year prior to your appointment date.) Retain your original, completed by Instructor Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate (page 7 of 7) to bring with you to the Records and Fingerprint Bureau. You must bring in the original firearm certificate at the time of your appointment. No copies will be allowed.

You are allowed to upload one document for identification and upload one document for your Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate. You may scan or take a clear visible photo to upload onto your application. If you have several identification documents you can upload them together as one file.

U.S. Citizens – State (DMV) issued identification (i.e. driver's license, identification card). Your identification must reflect the address where you currently reside. If you have recently become a Nevada resident, you must surrender the driver's license of your prior state of residency to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles and obtain a Nevada driver's license prior to submitting your application.

Naturalized Citizens or Foreign Born Citizens – Persons born outside of the United States must, bring in at the time of appointment, original documentation of US citizenship or permanent residency along with State issued identification that reflects the address where you currently reside. A Naturalization Certificate or Permanent Resident Alien Registration Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Services, a current unexpired US Passport, or a certificate of birth issued by a United States Consulate (Certificate of Report Born Abroad) are acceptable forms of documents; expired US Passports and military/hospital birth certificates are not acceptable.

Legal Aliens (Immigrant, Legal Permanent Resident, and Non-Immigrant) – Persons born outside of the United States who possess legal alien status must bring in proof of lawful alien status when you come in for your appointment. You must also upload your State issued identification that reflects the address where you currently reside. Acceptable identification documents as proof of lawful alien status are as follows:

• Immigrant Alien & Legal Permanent Resident – Bring in Alien card, which must not be expired and include an AR#, USCIS#, or A#
• Non-Immigrant Alien - Bring in Visa or Employment Authorization card (if required by DHS), valid Passport, I-94, AR# or A# (You also may require a valid hunting license, based upon visa type)
• All parties, for this section, must meet the requirements listed in 18 U.S.C. 922 (d)(5), (g)(5) and (y)(2); 27 CFR 478.11 and 478.32(a)(5), in order to lawfully possess firearms in the U.S.

Military Applicants – Military applicants who are over the age of 21, and whose primary state is a state other than Nevada, must bring in a current active duty military identification card along with State issued identification. If you are applying under the military exemption (over 18 years of age but under 21 years of age); however, you must bring in either your current active duty military identification, or your DD214 that shows an honorable discharge, along with your State issued identification card at the time of your appointment.

Nevada Seasonal Residents – If you If you have obtained a Nevada state issued Seasonal Resident Identification Card you must bring in your valid primary State issued identification along with the seasonal resident ID. Your home address must match the address listed on you primary state ID. Your mailing address can be in Nevada; however, the permit will take up to 120 days to be mailed to you. Please upload both forms of ID at the time of application submission.

After online application submission and review, you will receive an e-mail response. The response will be in the form of an accepted application, incomplete application, or rejected application e-mail to the e-mail address provided. ***Please check your e-mail spam/junk folders for any e-mail correspondence. (Note: please do not send e-mails to this address.)

Accepted application (Subject line: ECCW Accepted by LVMPD)
If your application is accepted as complete you will be required to submit payment within 30 days through a provided secure link. Once payment is received and accepted online you will receive an e-mail which confirms your payment and to schedule your appointment online. Using the provided link you will be able to schedule an in person appointment for fingerprints that will be processed at the Records and Fingerprint Bureau. (Note: Your Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate cannot be dated more than one year prior to your appointment date.)

Appointments (Subject line: ECCW Payment Received – Schedule your appointment with LVMPD)

Fingerprint appointments to complete the online application process will be available Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 am - 11:00 am, 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm, and 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. You may cancel or reschedule your appointment through the appointment link provided once online payment is submitted, no less than 24 hours in advance. Fingerprints and photographs must be completed in person at LVMPD HQ. No mailed in or uploaded fingerprints or photographs will be accepted.

***If fingernails are at a length or curvature which would not allow to produce a good print and/or damage to the scan machine glass screen, you will be required to cut down your nails to an approximate one-half (1/2) to 1 inch length before prints can be taken. No Exceptions.***

**You cannot be more than 10 minutes late for your appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late you will have to reschedule for another day. **

Incomplete Application (Subject line: Incomplete CCW Application)
After review, if your application is incomplete you will receive an e-mail that will provide the reason(s) the application was found to be incomplete. You will be required to resubmit your application with all required attachments if you wish to continue with the application process.

Rejected Application (Subject line: ECCW Rejected Application Response by LVMPD)
After review, if your application is rejected due to errors on the application you will receive an e-mail that will provide the reason(s) the application was rejected. You will be required to resubmit your application with all required attachments if you wish to continue with the application process.

• ECCW appointment confirmation e-mail. Paper print out or phone confirmation is acceptable. (Subject line: ECCW Appointment Confirmation From LVMPD)
• Original Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate from your firearms instructor. **Cannot be dated more than one year prior to appointment date**
• Identification used on the application
• Original documents of proof of citizenship/ permanent residency and/or active military ID.

Using the same link that was provided via e-mail to schedule your original appointment (Subject line: ECCW Payment Received – Schedule your appointment with LVMPD), you can reschedule your appointment no less than 24 hours in advance of your scheduled time.

• When you open the scheduler click on cancel appointment.
• Once clicked a check box titled reschedule appointment will appear.
• Check mark the box next to Re-Schedule Appointment and select a new Appointment Date and/or Appointment Time from the drop down menus.
• Click on Submit when finished.
• Exit out of the CCW – Schedule Form once submitted.

You will receive a new appointment confirmation e-mail.

Using the same link that was provided via e-mail to schedule your original appointment (Subject line: ECCW Payment Received – Schedule your appointment with LVMPD), you can cancel your appointment no less than 24 hours in advance of your scheduled time.

• When you open the scheduler click on cancel appointment.
• Once clicked click the submit button.
• Exit out of the CCW – Schedule Form once submitted.

You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your cancellation.

A non-refundable fingerprint and investigation processing fee is required at the time of application. Once your application has been accepted as complete, you will receive an e-mail with a payment link.

The fees are as follows:

1. New Application -- $99.00
2. Renewal Application -- $64.00
3. Late Renewal Application -- $79.00
4. Renewal Application (more than 365 days late) -- $99.00
5. Name Change -- $25.00
6. Duplicate Permit/Late Fee/Address Change -- $15.00
7. Additional Fingerprint Cards For Out Of State Applications $17.00 for the First Card, $2.00 for Each Additional Card

Please note: All name changes, duplicate, address changes, and additional fingerprint cards must be done at Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Depart – Headquarters Office 1st floor – Building C.

NRS requires that your application be processed within 120 days. Please allow 120 days from electronic submission of fingerprints for your permit to be issued.

You may begin the renewal process for your permit at any time, but no credit will be provided for unused time. We recommend starting the process 120 days before the permit expires. This will ensure the continuity of your permit. An additional, non-refundable late fee will be assessed on all renewals that have expired. If a permit has been expired more than 365 days, the application for renewal shall be treated as an initial application. Renewal applications require the same documentation as an initial application.

As outlined in NRS 202.367, a permittee shall notify the sheriff who issued his or her permit in writing within 30 days if the permittee's permanent address changes. A permittee who fails to notify the sheriff pursuant to the provisions of this section is subject to a civil penalty of $25.

If you are an initial applicant in Nevada, you must list 10 years of address history in chronological order to the date of the application. If you are a renewal, list 5 years of address history. The start date of residency for your current physical address is the day you moved into that address. Your current physical address only has to be listed in the physical address field on the application. For all additional addresses, the end date of residency should match up with the start date of the next residence. There are a few exceptions such as for seasonal residents; however, your address history must be complete and must be clear. Application will otherwise be incomplete and you will need to reapply with correct and accurate dates.
