Apply for a CCW Permit Online

You must upload:

• Identification documents
• A completed Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate

Certificates with alterations, including white-out or cross-outs, will not be accepted.

Your Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate cannot be dated more than one year before your appointment date.

Bring your original, completed by instructor Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate, page 7 of 7, to your appointment at the Records and Fingerprint Bureau.

No copies will be accepted.

You may upload:

• One document for identification
• One document for your Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate

You may scan or take a clear, visible photo of your documents to upload with your application.

If you have several identification documents, upload them together as one file.

U.S. Citizens

• State-issued ID (driver’s license or identification card)
• ID must reflect your current address

If you recently became a Nevada resident, surrender your out-of-state license to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles and obtain a Nevada driver’s license before applying.

Naturalized or Foreign-Born U.S. Citizens
Bring original proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, along with a state-issued ID that reflects your current address. Acceptable documents include:

• Naturalization Certificate
• Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
• Unexpired U.S. Passport
• Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by a U.S. Consulate

Expired passports and military or hospital birth certificates are not accepted.

Legal Aliens (Immigrant, Legal Permanent Resident, Non-Immigrant)
Bring proof of lawful status and a state-issued ID that reflects your current address.

Acceptable documents include:

• Immigrant / Legal Permanent Resident: Valid Alien Registration Card (must not be expired) with AR#, USCIS#, or A#
• Non-Immigrant Alien: Visa or Employment Authorization Card (if required), valid passport, and I-94, AR#, or A#

All applicants must meet federal requirements to lawfully possess a firearm.

Military Applicants

• Active-duty military ID
• State-issued ID

If applying under the military exemption (age 18–20), bring either:

• Active-duty military ID, or
• DD214 showing honorable discharge

Nevada Seasonal Residents

• Primary state-issued ID
• Nevada Seasonal Resident Identification Card

Addresses must match. Upload both IDs with your application.

After you submit your application, you will receive an email with your application status. Check your spam or junk folder if you do not see it. Do not reply to these emails.

If Your Application Accepted Application

• You will receive an email with a secure payment link
• Payment must be completed within 30 days
•  After payment, you will receive an email to schedule your fingerprint appointment

Fingerprint Appointments

•  Must be completed in person at LVMPD Headquarters (Records and Fingerprint Bureau)
• Available Monday–Friday:
  •  7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
• Schedule, cancel, or reschedule using the link provided after payment
• Changes must be made at least 24 hours in advance

Important:

• Bring all required original documents to your appointment
• No mailed or uploaded fingerprints or photographs will be accepted
• Trim fingernails if needed to allow fingerprints to be taken
• Arrive on time — appointments more than 10 minutes late must be rescheduled

If Your Application Is Incomplete

• You will receive an email explaining what is missing
• You must resubmit your application with all required documents

If Your Application Is Rejected

• You will receive an email explaining the reason
• You may reapply with corrected information and required documents

• ECCW appointment confirmation email (printed or on your phone)
• Original Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Firearms Safety Course Certification of Completion and Firearms Proficiency Certificate
  • Must be dated within one year of your appointment
• Identification used on your application
• Original proof of citizenship, permanent residency, and/or active military status (if applicable)

You can reschedule your appointment using the link provided in your scheduling email. Changes must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

To reschedule:

• Open the scheduler link from your email
• Select Cancel Appointment
• Select the option to Reschedule Appointment
• Choose a new date and time
• Click Submit

You will receive a new appointment confirmation email.

You can cancel your appointment using the link provided in your scheduling email. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

To cancel:

• Open the scheduler link from your email
• Select Cancel Appointment
• Click Submit

You will receive an email confirmation of your cancellation.

A non-refundable fingerprint and investigation processing fee is required at the time of application. Once your application has been accepted as complete, you will receive an e-mail with a payment link.

View current CCW fees

All name changes, duplicate permits, address changes, and additional fingerprint cards must be completed in person at LVMPD Headquarters, Building C (Records and Fingerprint Bureau).

NRS requires that your application be processed within 120 days. Please allow 120 days from electronic submission of fingerprints for your permit to be issued.

You may begin the renewal process for your permit at any time, but no credit will be provided for unused time. We recommend starting the process 120 days before the permit expires. This will ensure the continuity of your permit. An additional, non-refundable late fee will be assessed on all renewals that have expired. If a permit has been expired more than 365 days, the application for renewal shall be treated as an initial application. Renewal applications require the same documentation as an initial application.

Permit holders must notify the issuing sheriff in writing within 30 days of any permanent address change, as required by NRS 202.367. Failure to do so may result in a $25 civil penalty.

To update your address:

• Download the Change of Address form
• Complete and sign the form
• Email the completed form to ccwupdates@lvmpd.com

If you are applying for the first time in Nevada, you must provide 10 years of address history. If you are renewing, provide 5 years of address history.

Address history requirements:

• List addresses in chronological order up to the date of your application
• Use the date you moved in as the start date for your current address
• Your current address only needs to be entered in the “physical address” field
• For previous addresses, the end date of one address should match the start date of the next

Your address history must be complete and accurate. Incomplete or unclear information may result in your application being returned.
