Records Challenge
Records Challenges are requests to have incorrect information on your LVMPD criminal record reviewed for possible correction. This does not include reports filed, traffic incidents, or warrants.
Types of issues that constitute a Records Challenge
The different types of issues that constitute a Records Challenge are:
- Criminal history (arrest/criminal citation) on record does not belong to you.

Personal identifiers (name, date of birth, Social Security number, etc.) are incorrect on your record.
Associated supporting documentation must be attached to the request form. - Note: If it has been found that the incorrect information was on pertinent paperwork, it may remain on your record.

Other information on your record does not belong to you.
Please specify what information in the request form. -
Identity theft (someone is using your personal identification during police contact).
An identity theft report must be made and attached to the request form.
What does not constitute a Records Challenge
The following does not constitute a Records Challenge:
- Sealing an arrest/citation on my record. Please refer to the Sealing Records page.
- Updating information on my record such as dispositions for arrests/citations, personal identifiers, or deceased notifications. Please refer to the Criminal History Update page.
- Warrant or other court-related disputes will need to be handled with the courts.
Investigation process
A thorough investigation into your record will be conducted to review inaccurate information. If the results conclude that information in your record is inaccurate, the record will be corrected.
Fees and required documentation
There are no fees for this service. A legible copy or photo of a valid photo ID must be attached for a Records Challenge.
