The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) issues work cards in accordance with state and local law.

Non-refundable Fees

Effective July 1, 2025

Service Type Fee
New Application $65.00
Renewal Application $65.00
FBI Background Check $39.00

Total cost:

  • New or renewal application with FBI background check — $104.00*

*Not all applications require an FBI background check. Total cost may be less than $104.00.

About Work Cards

  • Work cards are valid for 5 years from the date of issuance
  • Work cards are valid only for the type of employment listed on the card
  • A new employer must complete a location change form and submit it to LVMPD within 5 days
  • If you change employment type, submit a new application signed by your employer
  • Work cards may not be issued to persons with felony convictions
  • Work cards may not be issued to persons who falsify an application

Requirements

  •  Trim fingernails before fingerprinting if length or curvature may affect fingerprint quality
  • Applications must include the original employer signature
  • Complete applications in black ink only
  • Complete applications prior to arrival
  • Bring two forms of valid ID (one must include a photo):
    • State ID, REAL ID, or driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles
    • United States Passport
    • Military ID
    • Certified Birth Certificate
      • Applicants age 25 and younger must provide an original or certified copy or a REAL ID card
    • Social Security Card
  • If born outside the United States or a U.S. territory, bring one additional form of identification:
    • United States Passport
    • Naturalization Certificate
    • Authorization to Work documents
  • Photocopies of ID or documents will not be accepted

Special Events Work Cards

For large-scale events (e.g., Formula 1, Electric Daisy Carnival), a work card application must be submitted through a registered employer. Applications are not accepted directly from individuals.
