Undersheriff Andrew WalshAndrew Walsh serves as the Undersheriff for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), bringing a wealth of experience from both coasts. Originally hailing from Staten Island, New York, Andrew began his law enforcement career with the New York City Police Department, where he developed a strong foundation in policing before transitioning to Las Vegas.

Andrew has held several influential roles within the LVMPD throughout his career. His assignments have spanned from serving as a Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer to taking on responsibilities as an Academy Staff Member to train the future generations of LVMPD.

Upon promotion to the sergeant rank, Andrew’s love for this noble profession did not go unnoticed. He served as a sergeant in patrol, LVMPD’s Field Training Program, and the Public Information Office (PIO).

Undersheriff Walsh committed himself to the next level of police leadership when he was promoted to lieutenant in Downtown Area Command (DTAC) and Enterprise Area Command (EAC). His primary focus was to improve the quality of life and to reduce violent crime in vulnerable communities. Andrew's placement as the lieutenant overseeing LVMPD’s Saturation Team provided him with first-hand knowledge of what communities needed and what expectations they had of their police department. His leadership capabilities were further recognized when he was selected to serve as the Internal Affairs Bureau Lieutenant before being promoted to captain.

As the Downtown Area Command's Captain, Andrew's expertise in safety and security led to his appointment as Deputy Chief, overseeing the Tourist Safety and Homeland Security Divisions.

As an Assistant Sheriff, Andrew directly supervised deputy chiefs, Labor Relations, IAB, and the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC). He was crucial in identifying training needs, developing and implementing departmental policies, and leading complex, multi-year projects. His experience held true as having direct accountability of LVMPD and the community it serves by supervising the Internal Oversight and Constitutional Policing (IOCP) Bureau. IOCP is the fabric of transparency within LVMPD, as that section handles the most critical incidents, including officer-involved shootings, and reinforcement of the public’s trust throughout the investigative process.

Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration and is an active member of the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF).

He is a dedicated husband to his wife, Janeen, and a compassionate father to their daughter, Emma. Andrew's commitment to his family is as strong as his dedication to his profession. Outside his professional duties, Andrew enjoys running, reading leadership books and crime novels, and cherishing time with his loved ones.
