DREAM program
The LVMPD DREAM Program is a community outreach and mentoring initiative designed to empower and inspire local youth. DREAM, short for Discover, Redirect, Empower, Advocate, and Mentor, connects students with law enforcement mentors who guide them through positive decision-making, personal development, and career exploration.
Through structured activities, workshops, and one-on-one engagement, the program fosters trust between youth and law enforcement while promoting leadership, accountability, and respect. DREAM focuses on creating lasting change by addressing challenges faced by at-risk youth and opening doors to a brighter future.
Key Goals:
-
Build strong, supportive relationships between officers and youth
-
Encourage academic achievement and positive life choices
-
Offer mentorship, leadership development, and career insights
-
Create safer, more connected communities through trust and collaboration
The DREAM Program reflects LVMPD’s ongoing commitment to making a meaningful impact beyond policing by investing in the next generation of leaders.
The DREAM is a FREE program from LVMPD which provides participants a wide range of fun activities over the course of 12 weeks. Each participant is expected to attend two weekly meetings, which occur on weeknights, for 2-hours. The DREAM program provides attendees free food, refreshments and access to speakers with real-world and life experience. Enrollees also take part in numerous field trips and experience things they may not have the opportunity to try. The DREAM program culminates with a graduation ceremony and a life-time of new opportunities. This is an empowerment program and not a disciplinary focused approach.
DREAM enrollee requirements:
-- Must be between 10 and 18 years of age
-- Must be free of convictions involving sexual crimes
-- Parent or guardian permission (required waiver)
