Joe Hearns
Manager, Peer Support
Joe was born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio where he became a life-long "Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye fan." He began his career with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in January 2005. Joe worked as a patrol officer for over eleven years and was an FTO for three years. Prior to Peer Support, he was assigned to Advance Officer Skills Training for six years. Joe also served as a member of the Honor Guard for 14 years.
He has been married for over 7 years and has 3 sons. When not working, Joe enjoys spending time with his four dogs, training, watching sports and watching his youngest son play basketball. After experiencing the loss of his oldest son in 2018, Joe decided it was time to help others going through similar life experiences.
Joe was appointed to the Peer Support Program in January 2022.
Meg Brunner
Meg was born in Massachusetts and moved to Las Vegas in 1998. She served as a Police Officer in the United States Air Force for 9 years, 5 of them as a Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged after an injury. In 2009, she earned a bachelor's degree in human services management followed by a master's degree in Forensic Science Investigation. Prior to being hired by the Metropolitan Police Department, Meg worked as a Police Dispatcher for the city of North Las Vegas, and as a Shift Supervisor and Training/Surveillance Manager at the MGM Grand. She began her career with LVMPD as a Crime Scene Analyst in the Criminalistics Bureau.
After experiencing the loss of a military brother to suicide and her boyfriend to a sudden cancer-related death, Meg decided to use her passion for helping others through similar life experiences.
Meg was appointed to the Peer Support Program in January of 2018.
Darryl McDonald
Darryl was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. After graduating from high school Darryl received a full ride scholarship to UNLV. While attending UNLV he specialized in Architecture and Sculpture to receive a bachelor's degree. After graduating from college, he worked as a designer and custom fabricator. Due to the economic crisis he found himself unemployed. Darryl's wife knew of his passion to serve people, so she signed him up to be a Police Officer for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Darryl became a Police Officer in 2009.
As a Police Officer Darryl always felt the need to look beyond the call of protecting and serving. His belief of prevention before apprehension lead him to a rewarding career in Community Policing. For the past 8 years, Darryl has been using diversion tactics for would-be offenders to educate and redirect their efforts for the good of the community. Receiving numerous awards in community projects, and outreach efforts he wanted to use his talents to help Officers in a peer support role.
Darryl enjoys spending time with his family, serving his church and outdoor activities such as mountain biking.
Darryl was appointed to the Peer Support Program in February of 2020.
Brian Kroening
Brian was born and raised in Rogers, Minnesota. He moved to Las Vegas in 2006 after being hired by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Brian worked as a patrol officer in the Bolden Area Command for ten years, the last 3 of which he worked as a Field Training Officer (FTO). After being involved in an Officer-Involved Shooting in 2015, he went on to work in the Office of Internal Oversight (OIO) where he was tasked with the care and control of Officers after they have been involved in critical incidents. While in OIO, Brian developed a deep passion to help officers restore their mental health and get back to work.
After two and a half years in OIO, he became a Patrol Detective and worked in Downtown Area Command until transferring to the Peer Support Program in 2021.
Kim Toole
Kim is a Las Vegas Native. Her career with LVMPD began as a Call-taker & Dispatcher in 2006. She enjoyed training new employees as they embarked on their exciting new careers in Communications. Her desire to be of service to others encouraged her to join the United States Air Force as a Medic in the Reserves in 2013. Kim later became a Police Officer with LVMPD, where she spent much of her career in the Downtown Area Command. Kim is pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and hopes to continue with her education in that field. She is very enthusiastic about mental health awareness and resiliency building skills. Her strong passion for the Peer Support Program and all that it has done for her, led her to become appointed as a Peer Support Liaison in 2023.
Kim enjoys spending time with her two amazing kiddos and grandkids. She enjoys hiking, reading, and traveling anywhere there is a beach.
Olga Clark, LEST
Olga has lived in Las Vegas since 1979 and has been employed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 1999. Before Metro, Olga was employed by Circus Circus Hotel/Casino for 17 years. Olga has worked in several sections throughout our department to include: DSD, Fingerprint Bureau, Backgrounds, Sexual Assault/Abuse & Neglect, Sheriff's Office, Risk Management/Health & Safety and is currently assigned to Peer Support Program as clerical support.
Some of Olga's hobbies are spending time with her family, traveling, shopping and getting good deals.
